Sergeant Harvie Daugherty Harris He was born 24 July 1889 in Beloit, Mitchell County, Kansas, and was a resident of New Boston, for many years. He was married 30 July 1936 to the former Ruth Stephens, in New Boston. Sergeant Harvie Daughtery Harris Died on 24 July 1966 in Farmer City, DeWitt County, Illinois.
He was owner of the Harris Book Store in New Boston and a former postmaster there. He also taught school near Buffalo Prairie, and was post master and past secretary of the New Boston Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Moline Consistory and was employed as custodian of the Scottish Rite Catherdral from 1952 to 1965 when he retired. In World War I he served as a Sergeant First Class in the Medical Detachment, 131st Division, May 1917 to June 1919, and A. of O. in Luxembourg. He was awarded the silver star.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Moline and the American Legion.
