NOTE: Company A of the 1st Regiment, Iowa Infantry was enrolled in Muscatine County in 1861. The 1st Regiment, Iowa Infantry was a Union Army infantry regiment that served in the American Civil War. The regiment was organized in Keokuk and mustered in on 14 May 1861 after President Abraham Lincoln called for 75,000 volunteer soldiers in April 1861. The regiment's experience during the Civil War included: Action at Forsyth on 22 July, Dug Springs on 2 August, and Battle of Wilson's Creek on 10 August.
